Girl Wonder to the Rescue by PANattheDisco Girl Wonder to the Rescue by PANattheDisco
I've loved Robin's outfit and color-scheme since I was a kid. It's one of those outfits I've always wanted to make. When I started reading the Robin comics earlier this year, I decided to finally make a Robin costume.

I based my costume on the third and fourth Robins. Robin III is Tim Drake and Robin IV is Stephanie Brown. Yes, there was a girl wonder! Her time as Robin was unfortunately short, but she existed and she was awesome! I never really decided whether I wanted to make Tim Drake or Stephanie Brown, so I merged the two. I love them both~ I borrowed more from Steph, and I'd be cosplaying Steph if I could pull off blond hair. The art in the comics is really inconsistent (sometimes on the same page!), so I had a lot of freedom to play with the design.

I made every part of this costume except for the boots (and when I say I made everything, I really do mean *everything*), and I patterned the entire costume from scratch. This costume took me over two months to figure out and make, but it was totally worth it in the end. I'm really proud of it, and being able to run around as the Girl Wonder is like a dream come true! X3

A big thanks to ~Elemental-Sight for the sweet photo shoot! This is my favourite photo from the set. My friend Becky and I joke that I was channelling my inner Chris O'Donnell. XD;;

If you're interested, photos of my DCU-related costumes can be found here. :3

Very awesome job!  That photo is very cool!  I want to do some action shots with my Superman costume like that.  I totally agree with songofafreeheart in that your cape is really well done!  I hand-sewed my cape, so I know how much time it takes to get it right.

Thank you so much for this wonderful comment! ♥

I checked out your Superman costume. It looks awesome! (And you hand-sewed your cape? That takes some serious patience and dedication. Rock on! )

You're very welcome, and thank you for the awesome comment.  I tried to have someone else make a cape for me, but it didn't turn out the way I wanted.  I didn't have a sewing machine to use, and really wanted an awesome cape worthy of the costume, so I guess pure determination got me through.

It's a sign of a well-made cape when you can get some great action out of it in photos.

Thank you! I spent ages on it, so it's nice to hear that that hard work is evident in photos. :D

It really shows. This is one of the best capes I've seen. Even more so since it's double sided! Most people I've seen can't get get that quite right.

What a GREAT costume and shoot! I'm jealous, haha! You really give off the vibe of Tim.

I've always wanted to do a feminine version of the Jason Todd Robin, but I was never good at sewing.
